Training, qualifications & experience

RGN, DN, Dip(Open), BA(Hons),
Dip & Pg Dip,Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling. (University Of Hertfordshire)
Reg Member MBACP.

I have worked as a District Nurse, followed by 12 years as a Community Macmillan
Specialist Nurse. During this time I have found caring for people and their families nearing
the end of their lives challenging, but extremely rewarding. So I decided  to further develop
my awareness, knowledge and skills in supporting them psychologically through their
struggles at this very difficult time in their lives. This eventually led me to train in counselling
therapy. As a result I am now able to help those who are struggling in many other ways not just those with a life threatening illness.

My Counselling Experience
I am an experienced counsellor  having worked in an NHS counselling service providing both short and longer term counselling. I have also worked as a Counsellor  in a private agency. I continue to work extensively in my own private practice.

My Psychodynamic counselling approach involves taking a deeper look at the significant relationships we experienced in our early years; how they may now be impacting on our current relationships and possibly contributing to current emotional difficulties.

I have undertaken basic training in and have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I am confident and familiar in working with people who are experiencing:- loss, depression, anxiety, low self esteem, relationship difficulties, stress and bereavement.

I am experienced in working with those suffering with or caring for those with a life limiting illness/long term conditions.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I work within the BACP code of ethics.

Fees

My fees are £45 for a 50minute session.Concessions are available, please inquire.

During your initial assessment we will talk and discover if we can work well together. If you decide that my approach is not for you then there will be no pressure to continue with me.

Counselling psychotherapy is an emotional and financial commitment for both yourself and the therapist.  The session is your time and will not be available to anyone else, therefore if you are unable to attend or miss appointments, fees are still chargeable.

I will endeavour to give you plenty of notice of any breaks I plan to take.  These will not incur a fee, including any unforeseen cancellations by myself
