Judy Reeves RN, MBACP., Individual & Couple Counselling, Anxiety
I have been working as a counsellor since 1998. I trained with Relate as a Couple counsellor. I find it rewarding working with people who have relationship problems; seeing them grow in confidence, make changes and develop news skills which improve their relationship.
Anxiety/stress can affect all of us at some time in our life and it can have a serious effect on our ability to cope from day to day and lead to long term health problems. It can also affect relationships and our confidence and self esteem. Early help and support can reduce the negative impact of stress.
I work with people who have work-related stress or stress related to their personal life.
I help people develop simple coping strategies to deal with the anxiety and I teach relaxation exercises which enable the client to feel better physically; less anxious or overwhelmed and back in control. Clients develop new ways of reducing or avoiding the stress in their life, they make changes and begin to achieve a better quality of life.
Any problem or crisis can result in anxiety and stress so I see people with a wide range of issues. I have a background in nursing, and worked as a Practice Nurse for 9 years. Since 1992 I have specialised in anxiety and stress management as a health problem as well as a psychological problem.
There is information about stress and a relaxation exercise is available on my website; www.stressconsultants.co.uk

I am happy for people to come along for one session only.
Most people choose to come back for further sessions.
I also offer Personal Development sessions to clients. Often clients want to develop their strengths and improve areas such as assertiveness, confidence and self esteem. They might want to develop their career and I help them work towards achieving their goals. This is often as a result of seeing me initially for managing stress or anxiety. The client finds new ways of 'being', they start to make changes and find that the changes impact on all areas of their life.
FAST FIXES FOR STRESS
I have written a short manual which is available from my website. It is short and easy to read, it is written for the stressed reader and explains how to reduce anxiety quickly and find new coping strategies to deal with stressful situations.
