Profile

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work within their ethical framework. I hope to enable you to explore and understand what is happening in your life, which may be causing you pain.

MY AIMS
I aim to provide clients with a non-judgemental, fully confidential environment, a safe place in which you can talk freely about whatever is concerning you and where you can know that you are being heard. At all times, I work towards building openness and trust - that is at the heart of my counselling. I can also give you support as you work towards achieving new attitudes and perceptions in your life - without pressure and at your own pace. My counselling can be short- or long-term, but at all times, I seek to find empowering solutions.

ABOUT COUNSELLING
There may be periods in any life when we feel distressed, overwhelmed or in conflict- or we may simply be faced with demanding or confusing challenges which prevent us from leading a full and happy existence. It is at such times that an objective, professional person can assist us in gaining the insights necessary for making changes and moving forwards in a positive way. The help offered in this way can be vital in this quest for empowerment. I received counselling at a difficult time in my own life and this approach made a tremendous difference, as I began to make changes.

ABOUT MY TRAINING
As my Advanced Diploma training focused on several humanistic therapies [see next section], I can be flexible in my approach, selecting the tools which I think would be best suited to each individual client. Apart from talking through your problems with you, I can, if appropriate, use tools such as guided imagery or meditation, amongst others - but at all times I would always ask your permission.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
I work with a wide variety of ages: individuals or couples, in a room of my own house set aside for this purpose. There is ample room for parking on the drive and there is a bus stop immediately outside the house, as I am on the number 8 bus route. The number 9 bus also stops frequently nearby, on Staplers Road, a few minutes' walk away.
