Profile

I will offer you a safe, confidential, caring space where you can talk and know that you have been heard. I have been thrilled over the years to walk alongside many clients as they have discovered and worked through painful situations from the past and the present, and gone on to develop a new self-confidence and make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

I Have experience working with more complex long term issues as well as time limited therapy (of between 6-10 sessions).

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I am a qualified Counsellor and an accredited member of the 'British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists' MBACP (Accredited) with over 16 years experience helping people through a wide range of issues.

Qualification & Training
I have a Diploma in Counselling accredited by the University of Gloucestershire. My counselling training was from a Person-Centred stance but I integrate techniques and strategies from a variety of other models particularly Brief Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Some clients know the type of counselling they would like to receive. Many however are not familiar with different counselling approaches. I prefer to meet with clients for an introductory session so that we can then decide together what is going to be most helpful for them.

Experience
I have over 1500 hours counselling experience and over the years have taken referrals from Social Services, Educational Psychologists, GP'S and Family Support  Workers.

As well as my Practice in Gloucester, I also work part-time as a counsellor for TIC+ a Christian charity offering counselling to young people in schools in the Gloucestershire area.

I am a Christian and do some counselling and run support groups for the church I attend. I have also written a counselling course which is recognised by the Association of Christian Counsellors and train others in counselling theory and skills.

Professional Issues
As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to its professional Conduct Procedure.

I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure that I stay up to date with the latest counselling techniques and research. I receive regular supervision from a qualified supervisor.

I have enhanced CRB clearance and full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Further Information

Workplace Counselling
Before training to become a counsellor I had over 18 years experience working in a high pressured blue chip sales and business environment. I therefore have a good understanding of the demands and pressures on both employees and employers in the workplace, and am able to draw on this insight in my work as a counsellor helping clients with business and work related difficulties.

I offer long term or time limited workplace counselling either on site or from a private consulting room.
