Life can be a tough journey. Mostly we soldier on, doing our best, surviving. But there can come a time when it just isn't enough - we can't or just don't want to make do with simply surviving...
It does take courage to reach out. What will a counsellor be like? How will they make you feel? Will they just make things worse? What will your friends and family think of your seeing a counsellor? Making the decision to see a counsellor can take precious energy and a leap of faith.
As a counsellor, I am very aware of how much courage it has taken for a person to make that call and to come to the first session. I will give you the space to bring what you are ready to bring to each session - I will listen carefully, respectfully, without judgement. I offer you a space to talk freely and openly; another head to think alongside yours; someone to quietly accompany you as you talk through and explore how you feel. I provide a safe place where you can speak about things you may never have dared to speak about before, and I will sit with you and help you to find the words to make sense of what may now feel like a mass of dark, overwhelming feelings; help you decide how you feel about it all; help you to decide whether there is anything you would like to do to change it.
My goal is to help you to grow stronger, more authentically yourself, and more connected to important others in your world, with a clearer voice that you really feel is your own.
This process can take as little as a few months for some; for others, it can take years. There is no right or wrong in this. It is a process that does take commitment, and it isn't always easy - but it is a powerful process, and I have seen people blossom into happier people, sometimes radically changing their lives for the better. I feel privileged to do this work, facilitating and accompanying people on their journeys. I will respect your pace and your freedom to work for as long as you need or want. This will be your counselling - your journey - your time...
Step 1: give me a call or email me - if I can't answer the phone immediately, I will ring you back as soon as possible. I know how hard that first call can be ...
Step 2: we can then arrange a first session (50 minutes long)
Step 3: in that first session we can talk about what you need from counselling and how I work to see if you are happy to work with me and if I'm the right person for you ...
Step 4: then we will then set an agreement including details of when we will meet (weekly, 50-minute sessions) and the cost (£40 but there may be flexibility if you have financial difficulties) ...
Step 5: and that's it. This will be your time, once a week - your time to begin your journey ...
