Psychotherapy is an interpersonal intervention used to help clients with mental health, emotional, and behavioural problems. This process focuses on improving an individual’s sense of self and well-being and decreasing the effects of any difficulties they may be experiencing.

Psychotherapists build a relationship with clients through a number of techniques including dialogue, empathy, and positive regard in order to help the client to improve their own mental health, emotional health, or relationships.
