I am a 3 year diploma trained counsellor, having achieved Advanced Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Course 4)
I hold Certificate in Alcohol Counselling (Aquarius , 1993)
I hold Advanced Certificate in the Management of Substance Misuse
I am NHS trained grief / loss counsellor
I hold Certificate in Adult Education (City & Guilds 730-7)

I have done 3 years training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (TA) - (no exams taken)

I worked with Alcohol Advisory Service in Hull as alcohol counsellor in voluntary capacity and later worked full-time with them for 6.5 years during which time they became Alcohol & Drugs Service and I did further training to become generic drugs counsellor. As well as doing 1 to 1 counselling work my role also required me run groups in alcohol and drugs education and awareness as well as all aspects of rehabilitation.

I worked as grief / loss counsellor within GP practice.
In my NHS practice I offered counselling to those who had experienced childhood abuse whilst doing supervised counselling within the TA model (whilst doing my training).
I worked with Open Minds Counselling Service in Doncaster offering generic 1 to 1 counselling.

I continue to work with Survivors (Hull & East Riding) based in Hull operating as a rape and sexual trauma centre for both men and women. I counsel individuals who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and/or individuals abused as adults. This involves working with the effects of trauma and acute and chronic stress - resulting in PTSD type symptoms and dissociative disorders.

EFT is a meridian energy therapy , making use of acupuncture points , which are tapped upon to release negative energies .This process can allow therapeutic change to happen very quickly - freedom from phobias , fears , traumas , blocked motivation , anxiety disorders , depression , addictions........

Further information

COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY can and does alleviate a whole range of life issues.

I offer counselling and therapy within a supportive, compassionate and empathic relationship.

My aim is to facilitate your achieving your aims in a professional yet caring manner.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your individual needs.

(Based on the writing of Sue Parker Hall)

a theory that distinguishes between ANGER (which is seen to be positively necessary for individuation) and RAGE (an un- thinking out of control emotion born out of unresolved trauma(s) .)
The aim of therapy is to resolve and integrate past trauma in the belief that it will dissolve the rage
leaving space for appropriate anger.
