About me

I'm an experienced Therapist and Counsellor with more than 18 years of expertise and experience supporting people with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, family issues and childhood trauma. I also support people with Suicidal Ideation and those that wish to address addictions such as sex addiction, gambling addiction and drug and alcohol addiction. I have an extensive knowledge of 12 step work.

What I offer

I work from an integrative/person centered approach which incorporates motivational interviewing in the process with some life coaching, if requested.

I offer a safe, warm, pragmatic and down to earth space where my clients can feel free to explore their issues, anxieties, fears, thoughts, feelings and fantasies without the fear of judgment or reproach.

Apart from traditional counselling I offer a 'Walking Therapy' in the local park, Finsbury Park or Alexandra Palace, for those that find the counselling space too intense and telephone or Zoom counselling for those that would rather stay in the privacy of their own home.

I offer open ended or fixed/short term counselling which can be goals focused if required at a fee of £70 (sometimes negotiable)

I also offer a free initial consultation of 30 minutes in order for you to see if you would like to work with me or not. If you require a reduced fee please mention this on your first contact with me in order for me to agree availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Integrative), registered by the BACP, an accredited Certificate in Group work, an accredited Certificate in Systemic Approach to Family Therapy, Significant additional training including Motivational Interviewing, CBT and Mindfulness. I've worked for many years in the social care field for various organisations including residential rehabilitation centers and aftercare.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
