About me

At [ The Garden Practice], located in the beautiful surroundings of South London, we offer a warm and welcoming space for individuals seeking counseling. Our counseling room, nestled in a pleasant garden environment, provides a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that allows clients to feel comfortable and at ease.

As a qualified and registered counselor, a member of the Federation of Drugs and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP), and a registered member of the MBACP, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my practice. What sets me apart is my lived experience of many of the issues my clients face. It was these personal experiences that inspired me to become a counselor and provide a safe and supportive space for others.

With 23 years of experience working with people on their journeys, I have had the privilege of assisting clients with various challenges. My areas of expertise include addiction, gambling addiction, substance misuse, trauma, and relationship issues—both within and outside the family unit. I also work with clients who are seeking self-discovery or looking for guidance in navigating specific situations they are currently facing.

I firmly believe that each individual's experience of their struggles is unique and deeply personal. That is why my approach to counseling is tailored to honor and respect your individuality. I strive to create a therapeutic alliance built on trust, respect, and warmth, which I consider essential for successful therapy.

My goal is to empower you throughout your therapeutic journey. Whether you are seeking a few sessions to gain clarity and a fresh perspective or require more time to process past events before focusing on the future, I am here to support you every step of the way.

To get started, I invite you to reach out to me at [phone number] or [email address] to schedule an initial session. During this session, we will discuss your needs, goals, and expectations from counseling. If you feel comfortable continuing, we can then schedule regular sessions on a weekly or fortnightly basis, marking the beginning of your transformative journey.

I am committed to providing a confidential, non-judgmental, and supportive space where we can explore your concerns and work towards positive change. Your well-being is my priority, and I will do everything I can to assist you in achieving your therapeutic goals.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if there is anything specific you would like to discuss. I am here to listen, understand, and support you.

I look forward to the opportunity of accompanying you on your path towards healing and personal growth.

Warm regards,

[John Gani ]

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Degree in integrative counselling
  • Registered drug and alcohol professional and a member of FDAP post qualification.
  • a registered/qualified supervisor presently working with trainees and qualified therapists in the field.

For many years I worked with a homeless charity helping homeless people refocus and regain their lives from many of life's challenges,13 years ago I was responsible for setting up a project for the homeless, this project was to be an engagement tool to help motivate and encourage clients to believe in themselves and address the issues they had that stopped them from moving on with their lives. At present I work with a multi disciplinary team within a specialist private treatment center for people with addiction issues as an addiction therapist but much of my work, experience and training is generic meaning I work with many other issues that clients present.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
