About me

Many of the problems that trouble us in life are rooted in parts of our minds that are largely unconscious. Like an iceberg, we may be aware only of the difficulties that break the surface. That's why the bigger issues are hard to attend to.

I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, the type of therapy that recognises this truth and provides a safe space to understand anxieties, stress, feeling low, or other personal struggles. The therapy would be carefully focused on what you want to bring, whilst also seeking different ways of listening to what those concerns could mean, particularly in terms of future flourishing.

Alongside my psychotherapeutic work, I have longstanding experience in pastoral and spiritual work. Often, psychotherapy can help unblock issues here too.

It can also be helpful to explore things at a systemic level, that is, thinking about how problems in life can arise from family histories, places of origin, and other transpersonal concerns.

Psychotherapy can be for a fixed term, perhaps of 12 weeks, or it can be open-ended. Many people prefer the latter because it allows time for deeper issues to emerge. We would meet at the same time and place each week, a pattern that greatly helps this kind of exploration.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at WPF Therapy, a leading clinic and institute in London.

I have qualifications in Pastoral and Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy and many years of experience working at the Maudsley Hospital and The Bethlehem Royal Hospital within the National Units and Forensic services.

My professional clinical affiliations are with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and The Foundation For Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC). I am based in Peckham and Waterloo/Lambeth North.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
