Hello, I’m John Crier and I'm a fully qualified and accredited counsellor offering an empathetic and confidential counselling service based in Atherton, Greater Manchester. I specialise in working face-to-face with individuals or couples and can work from my own private counselling room in Atherton or by carrying out home visits.
I am passionate about my work as we all have times when we can feel lost or confused about ourselves and our lives. Counselling offers the opportunity to explore our thoughts and feelings in a confidential and non-judgemental environment and talking things through with someone who will really listen can help us to see things clearly, come to terms with our problems and where possible, to find a solution.
My employment history includes significant careers within the Armed Forces and Corporate IT Management, both of which were high pressure jobs that involved working within close knit teams. During these careers I became increasingly aware of the importance of every individual and how work and personal pressures, internal conflicts and emotional or psychological issues can have a detrimental impact on our daily lives and ability to function. It was this and some key points in my own life that prompted me to work on my own emotional intelligence, gain a better understanding of psychology and ultimately re-train for a fulfilling career as a counsellor. In addition to my counselling work I also volunteer with a local Young Carers charity.
I employ an integrative approach to counselling which means that I do not work solely within the constraints of any particular counselling method or technique. The style and methods used are based on the individual needs and circumstances of each person and can be adapted as treatment progresses. Integral counselling also considers the whole person which allows us to identify how an issue with one element of our lives can have an impact elsewhere. Sessions may also include some coaching techniques to aid clients in becoming more self-aware and to assist them in learning new positive coping strategies for the future.
If you require any further information, please feel free to call or email me. You can also review my website at www.empasure.com which includes a page with some frequently asked questions (FAQ).
