Hello, my name is Joe. Thank you for taking the time to view my page.
You may be considering counselling or therapy, to help you with decision making or with relational difficulties. You may be facing a crisis of confidence in your current life. As an experienced and compassionate psychotherapist, I can support you through your current dilemmas and help you develop ideas and strategies that work for you. In the process, periods of stress, anxiousness or mood fluctuations, may be managed by you more effectively.
As a systemically trained psychotherapist, I am interested in all of the influences in your life that have made you the person you are today. Therapeutic work would involve unpackaging the connections that are not working for you and creating a safer, more integrated foundation for subsequent decision making and choices in your life.
My experience as a psychotherapist and a counselling tutor over a 15 year period, has enabled me to build successful therapeutic alliances with individuals, couples and families. A successful therapeutic relationship is one where you will have permission to explore your difficulties without censure and be guided by ethically informed standards.

I am an experienced practitioner and I work with people individually, in couples and with families.
My experience includes private practice and work with a number of counselling agencies. I also Lecture on the Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling Practice at North West Regional College.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
