About me

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor which means I use different models of counselling, inter-twining them and tailoring them to fit your needs.  This gives us the opportunity to explore how life is for you, how you feel about it and how you react during certain situations, all with the aim of finding solutions that work for you.

My aim is to provide a confidential, non-judgemental and accepting environment where I can help you explore your issues no matter what they are. Unresolved issues can cause great unhappiness and therapy can help to unlock suppressed feelings and emotions.

In an ideal world, we would have someone to talk to within our family or support network, but sometimes we don't feel that we can because we don't want to hurt their feelings or face their reactions. Counselling fills this gap and is a way to express how you really think and feel in a respectful, warm, safe and non-judgemental environment, with someone who is not emotionally involved.

I have worked as a Counsellor in a General Practice and in supported accommodation for young people. I have also worked as a school counsellor for ages 11-18.

I have expert knowledge in ADHD and Autism. If you are diagnosed or undiagnosed I can help you with strategies to help you manage life. If you have suspected ADHD/Autism then I can help you explore this and make a decision together as to whether you need a formal assessment. Please note that I cannot officially diagnose.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor/therapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I can also be found on the BACP Register which was set up by the Department of Health in 2013.

I have been trained to post-graduate level in Integrative Counselling, which is accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)

I attend regular CPD training days keeping my skills and knowledge up-to-date so that I can help you in the best way I can.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
