About me

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

Making the decision to have counselling can be a difficult one and choosing the right Counsellor can be a daunting prospect; so am I the right Counsellor for you? I am a fully qualified and experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor, accredited with the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) offering both short term and long term counselling for adults experiencing any kind of emotional difficulties. I am also a qualified Supervisor; please see my Supervision profile if this is of interest to you.

I have spent the majority of my professional life working with both men and women  who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse and my area of interest and knowledge lies within trauma and crisis. I have  worked closely and intensively with survivors of FGM, Honour Based Violence and Forced Marriage.

In addition to this I have experience working with Clients with disorded eating and addiction , initially gained during my time as a Therapist at The Priory and then built upon as my career developed.  My Client work extends to a range of different issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD  relationship difficulties and suicide and self harm, though this list is not exhaustive .

I have worked within the Judicial system for many years and in Further Education working with students  aged between 16-18 years old with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I am a qualified Tutor/Trainer and in addition to my Counselling work , I have also spent time tutoring student Counsellors  levels  1-3.

I practice from two different locations and have a London office, where I work primarily with corporate clients, looking at issues such as burnout, fatigue, stress, redundancy, perfectionism, career coaching and training.

I am an Integrative Therapist which means I use a range of different approaches and adapt them to suit your needs.

In addition face to face appointments,  I am able to offer sessions via telephone and 'face to face' using online, secure and confidential counselling rooms.

I am warm, friendly and honest and can offer you a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings. I have two separate spaces from which I work, enabling me to reach a wide range of clients who would benefit from my support.

I work from a central location along Southend Seafront in a beautiful building , which provides a peaceful sanctuary. I also have a premises in the heart of the City, directly opposite Liverpool Street Station, servicing corporate clients and clients for whom a therapeutic  space separate to their home is preferable.  Please note that there is a different pricing structure according to the location of the therapy and I am happy to discuss this further with you, should you require further clarification.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
