About me

I AM NOW OPEN AND REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING NEW AND EXISTING CLIENTS IN PERSON AGAIN! Phone and zoom sessions still available if preferred. Good hygiene measures in place for your safety.

Are you feeling anxious, depressed, discontented, confused, or maybe even just need someone to talk to?

I offer a very private, comfortable and relaxed space, where you can have time and a safe place to talk through your challenges and learn new coping strategies, which can enable you to work through the feelings that are troubling you. From my own experience, this can really help to deal with specific problems, cope with a crisis or bereavement, improve your relationships, reduce confusion, or develop better ways of living.

I am an integrative therapist, fully qualified to work with individuals and couples, meaning I use different theories to suit each clients individual needs. It is my role to listen, support and help you understand your feelings and behaviour better and, if necessary, help you to improve your way of thinking, communicating and your ability to cope with whatever difficulties you are facing.

During sessions you will be encouraged, through a respectful and non judgemental environment, to talk openly in a way that cannot always be possible with family and friends. This can be therapeutic when you are feeling low and can really help you to start taking control of your feelings and begin to move towards a happier and more contented life.

Sessions last approx. one hour, during which time you will have my full and focused attention - something which can be very difficult to get in every day life!

Client Testimonial 1

"I was so nervous about starting counselling and wasn't sure what to expect from it. However, on first meeting Jo she completely put me at ease and I ended up looking forward to our sessions. I really benefited from seeing things from new perspectives and felt understood and supported at a time when I really needed it. Although I am now feeling much stronger and have finished counselling, if I ever need support again in the future I will definitely be going back to Jo"

Client Testimonial 2

"After my wife died, I was completely overwhelmed by my grief and felt so alone and was very emotional and confused about how I could go on without her. Joanne showed such empathy, was so patient and having her support really helped me to work through things. I am really glad I overcame my negative view of counselling and don't know what I would have done without it"

Client Testimonial 3

"Joanne really helped me to deal with a lot of issues, especially learning to overcome my anxiety. I now feel stronger and more positiive about the future. She helped me to work on improving my confidence by encouraging me to change the way I think about things. I didn't want our sessions to end. "
