Counselling is about making changes. I am reminded of a quote I love
"You'll be surprised to know how far you can go from the point where you thought it was the end."
I am first and foremost a proud Mum of four my youngest having recently left home. My role as a mother hasn't been without its challenges however I wouldn't swap it for anything. Originally from Wales I settled in Plymouth when my husband joined the forces.
I personally discovered the benefits of counselling when my marriage ended. It was, as anyone would expect, a deeply distressing experience. However, when I sat opposite my counsellor she gave me hope, a listening ear and the freedom to be honest. With that came choice and change, followed by empowerment. A recipe for a beautiful cake if ever I saw one.
I am passionate about my work, having worked in the field of counselling within the NHS/ GP surgeries for the last 17 years.
I trained as an integrative counsellor in 1998 with its ethos rooted in the person centred model. I spent time in London training in the Solution Focused model which I've found hugely respectful. The approach does not focus so much on the past, but instead focuses on the present and future. I offer the possibility for clients to envisage their preferred future and then together we start creating moves towards it, whether these are small changes or large changes.
Why see a Counsellor?
People access counselling for a diverse range of issues. Many people are aware of their issues and wish to talk about specific problems such as depression, relationship issues, anxiety, bereavement. I've also worked with eating disorders, addictions, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, mid-life issues, bullying and work place bullying, post natal depression, low self esteem & confidence and so on.
At times others are simply aware they're unhappy, they just feel that something isn't right. I respect the fact that you my client are the expert of your issues so we can begin to work collaboratively to make changes.
I abide by the BACP code of ethics.
Its important to note that I access supervision monthly.
I am available to see clients on Thursday, Fridays and weekday evenings.
All sessions are confidential and are held in a safe and supportive space.
Please do call me on 07850355914 if you have any questions or would like to find out more.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Finally let me leave with a quote that is never far from my mind
"Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear." - Anthony Robbins".

Along side my family and work, I keep myself in a healthy state of mind.
I discovered meditation 7 years ago and practice this daily.
At the age of 19 I knew i would sit on a mountain one day with a teacher, I thought it would be in India and he'd wear orange robes, it didn't work like that however I did sit on a mountain in Spain for 6 months meditating. My passion was such that I became a teacher of Meditation.
This has changed my life in many ways and given me the tools with which to live my life fully and in the present.
