I offer a confidential client-led counselling service which offers therapeutic support to individuals in order to help them move beyond the personal issues or emotional turmoil they are currently encountering. I offer space for clients to explore and express their feelings in a safe and well-supported way. Emotional Therapeutic Counselling offers a humanistic, transpersonal approach sensitively attuned to the needs of the individual. The beauty of this approach is that it offers a range of tools and techniques to allow the client to actively engage with their own process of recovery. Emotional Therapeutic Counselling allows the individual to take charge of their own life in such a way that personal crisis becomes a transformational journey of self-discovery. When we resolve deep-seated inner conflicts; when we find new perspectives, we are able to recognise our strengths and to access our great potential. My aim, through counselling interventions, is to empower individuals; to help them experience a greater sense of well-being and to bring more harmony and balance to their experience of life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have five years of counselling experience drawn from working with the Foundation for Emotional Therapeutic Counselling but also with the Gloucester Counselling Service and the Suicide Crisis Centre in Cheltenham. My skill as a counsellor has developed out of many years experience of working within education and healthcare in a variety of roles. I have worked with individuals from all walks of life within both the private and public sectors. This has given me the capacity for deep empathic listening and the understanding necessary to support individuals in moving forward from crisis, uncertainty and problematic patterns into greater clarity and wholeness of mind, body and spirit. Family problems, relationship conflicts, suicidal feelings, confusion, anxiety, depression - feelings and situations that impact upon us and reduce our quality of life - can seem overwhelming when we have to face them alone. My training and experience enables me to help individuals deal with and resolve their difficulties so that they can lead happy and fulfilling lives.

I offer an initial free consultation for 30-40 minutes. This gives the interested individual the opportunity to find out more about Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and to establish confidence in me as their potential counsellor.
My fees are £40 an hour.
I do operate a sliding scale for clients who have limited means and concessions can be negotiated on request. There is also the possibility of accessing a subsidised therapy fund for those clients who may be in need of this.
I also offer a telephone counselling service for a reduced fee of £20 an hour. This enables those who may be encountering practical, financial and/or emotional difficulties the freedom and space to choose this option if it feels more supportive for them to make that choice.
Fees may be paid by cheque, cash or through my pay pal account.
I have worked with the Suicide Crisis Centre in Cheltenham. I have also done some work with addiction and those recovering from addiction. My work has brought me into contact with those who are suffering trauma from abuse, and those facing the pain and isolation that can come with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Often such things can impact on the whole family and individuals within the family feel they have nowhere to turn, no place to go where their views might be heard without judgement or censor. This is where counselling and counselling support over the telephone can help to relieve this sense of aloneness and enable the person to reclaim their perspective and balance; find the strength to deal with what it is they are facing in a productive way, considerate to everyone involved most especially themselves!
As a writer myself, and having worked with artists and writers over the years, I place great value on the role that creativity can play in the therapeutic process. It is often through recovering our creative voice that true healing comes, and a new emergent self who is ready to joyfully embrace the challenges of the future to the fulfilment of our life purpose and the enhanced well-being that this brings.
