About me

Are you feeling anxious, stuck, repeat patterns of negative behaviour or feel depressed, or low and want to make changes?

Is a bereavement still painful or are you feeling overwhelmed by a major life event or a crisis or perhaps the current situation in relation to Covid -19 and the loss that might have brought?

Talking to a professional could help.

Counselling can be a very rewarding experience, enabling personal growth, positive self awareness and help introduce coping strategies.  It improves your emotional well being and to feel more capable to deal with life’s challenges.

I am an experienced integrative counsellor registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  My counselling experience began with a bereavement charity supporting clients facing a range of different losses. Counselling at a Psychotherapy service allowed me to work with clients referred by their GP for long term therapy covering a wide range of concerns and emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, abuse, trauma, addictions and transitions.

I offer a comfortable, supportive, confidential place, either in person or online, which will enable you to explore feelings, feel supported and understood whilst gaining insight and time to reflect.  The therapeutic relationship is at the core of my work.  I offer short term counselling for specific issues as well as long term, which allows you to work at your own pace.

I know that finding a suitable counsellor can feel like a daunting process. I am happy to offer a no obligation, initial consultation session to see if you feel comfortable and if we could work together.  This is an opportunity for you to tell me your concerns and for me to answer any questions that you may have and learn about what you want to get out of counselling.  Please email me with your telephone number and we can arrange a 15 minute call and/or we can arrange an assessment session.  My fee is £50 per session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and adhere to their code of ethics and I am willing to travel within a radius of 7 miles to accommodate those with mobility issues and chronic illness.

My Integrative training allows me to draw on a variety of skills and theories and I believe that given the space and time clients will find their own answers. I believe that childhood experiences shape our beliefs and our behaviours and by looking back at the past and understanding, that these can be worked through.

As part of my ongoing professional development, I attend regular workshops and courses, monthly supervision and I continue with my own personal therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
