About me

It can be hard living with a difficulty that you have been struggling with for some time or perhaps a more recent issue is troubling you. You may be feeling overwhelmed, trying to cope with anxiety or depression, or you may need to talk about your feelings following a significant life event such as a bereavement, relationship breakdown or other loss. Talking with family and friends can be a real help but sometimes it is useful to have the space to talk to a trained counsellor who is not immediately connected to your situation.

My aim is to provide a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour allowing you to feel heard and understood. I will support you in the process of self-awareness, leading to the ability to make choices that can provide the opportunity for change.

As everyone is unique with their own life experiences and difficulties, the counselling process will be different for each client. I am able to draw from a number of counselling theories and techniques to support you, enabling our work to be tailored to your specific needs.

I offer short or long term work, on a one-to-one basis, with adults and young people from 18 years of age. Depending on your needs, therapy may just be a few sessions or you may decide that working on an open ended basis feels better for you.

My private practice is located in Redhill (stairs access). There is parking close by.

What to expect in our first session

It is very important for you to find a counsellor who you feel happy to work with. As such, in our first introductory meeting we will establish what your needs are and whether working together feels right for you. Initially, counselling may seem daunting so this session will give you the opportunity to find out what it will mean for you.

If you decide to continue with counselling, each therapy session will be 50 minutes, usually at the same time each week.

Training, qualifications & experience

FdSc in Integrative Counselling (Greenwich University)

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines (BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

I regularly attend courses/training which inform my practice including for example neurodiversity, solution-focused therapy, couples therapy, addiction, loss, suicidal ideation, trauma.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked with young people aged 14-24 at a youth counselling organisation (YMCA Heads Together).

I have also worked in a local counselling agency (Horsham and Crawley Counselling Group) and in a school.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
