I offer short and long term counselling for adults and young people. I aim to provide an environment that is safe, supportive and confidential, in which you can talk about any issues. You will be listened to sensitively and given the space to explore, to understand and to bring about changes.
I use a psychodynamic approach which stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour. Emphasis is placed on your own personal history, since past experiences and relationships can have a significant effect on current behaviour, sometimes in ways of which we are not even aware. At the heart of the process is the relationship between client and counsellor and you should not feel that you are struggling alone. You should feel secure enough to talk about any difficult feelings. The speed at which we work will depend on you and there will be an opportunity to reflect and consider choices.
Counselling does not offer advice but seeks to help you gain insight into emotional difficulties and problematic patterns of behaviour, so that you can move forward in a productive and satisfying way. It is about helping you find your own answers to your own unique problems.
If you have any questions please feel free to email or call me and I will do my best to answer them without any obligation to proceed further.
