About me

Feeling overwhelmed by your problems?

Feeling stressed, anxious or depressed?

Are you concerned about your relationships with others?

Are you feeling powerless and worthless in your life and have difficulty trusting others?

There are times in our lives when we struggle to cope and reaching out for help and support can be the first step on the road to recovery.  1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year.  Talking about how you are feeling can feel scary and overwhelming but 60% of people report that they feel relieved after talking about their condition (Time to Change).  Counselling and psychotherapy give you the opportunity to discuss the problems and difficulties you are experiencing in a safe, confidential environment, in order to help you make changes in your life to improve your well-being or help you come to terms with things that cannot be changed.

Together we will look to help you identify:

New ways of coping – to help you to understand and cope with traumatic memories, upsetting life events, difficult thoughts or behaviours.

Your thoughts – to help you learn to become more aware of your thoughts and how they affect you

Your feelings – to enable you to feel better able to talk about and understand your feelings without feeling overwhelmed by them.

Relationship difficulties – to help you learn to understand the difficulties you are having in relationships and what can go wrong in communication with others.

Counselling can help you understand why certain things are repeatedly difficult and distressing for you and help you find solutions to manage the situation more effectively.

I am a humanistic, integrative and relational practitioner and offer short and long term counselling and psychotherapy with adults.  I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my prime theoretical model and incorporate a number of other theoretical approaches such as CBT, person centred, Gestalt and mindfulness.  My focus is on empowering people, identifying their resources and potential to help them find their own solutions.  I have experience of supporting people with a variety of emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties including depression, anxiety, loss, domestic abuse, relationship and family issues, trauma and addictions.
