Profile
Hi, my name is Jo Allen and I am a qualified counsellor in Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire. Whatever your reason for coming to counselling, I aim to provide an environment and the tools to help you explore your feelings and to enable you to work towards a better understanding of what is causing you to feel the way you do and to find ways to change this. My aim is also to ensure that as many people as possible can access counselling, whether the limitations are physical, emotion or financial. I have worked with a range of client issues including stress, anxiety, depression, mood swings, anger, self esteem, body image, and bereavement. I also have personal in-depth experience of many types of disability both as a counsellor and as a person with a disability. I have spinal muscular atrophy and whilst I am a firm believer and advocate of full inclusion in society, I do also believe that I am able to offer an insight into disability which some other counsellors may not have. All counselling sessions are 50 minutes long and are completely confidential. My premises in Godmanchester are completely wheelchair accessible. My orientation is integrative as I believe that all clients are unique and benefit from individual styles of therapy.I am a member of BACP and work within their ethical framework and I am currently working towards accreditation. I have professional supervision on a two weekly basic and have professional indemnity insurance.
