About me

Over 25 years experience working with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bereavement, relationship problems, childbirth and parenting issues, working together to understand your experience and find new resources to help you move forward.

You are an individual, you will have your own unique responses and feelings. Keeping your individual experience in focus is central to the way I work and to the counselling I offer. We will work together to help you find ways to process, understand and overcome the individual difficulties you are faced with. We will focus on what’s important to you and the changes you want to achieve.

The way you experience problems like recurrent depression, anxiety, difficulty with grief or breakdown of relationships are often linked to the way you have learnt to experience things in your past. I will help you to think about your current issue alongside your history. This enables you to develop an understanding of the root cause of your problem, which in turn helps you to achieve real change. This doesn’t mean that I only focus on your past or the present day, but that I take your whole life experience into account when working with you. In this way you achieve change rooted in your own life experience, a change based on your understanding of yourself.

Working with Postnatal Depression, Childbirth and Parenting Years Issues:
As an antenatal teacher for The National Childbirth Trust, I taught couples for more than 10 years. Combining my teaching experience with my role as a Psychotherapist gives me the ability to work effectively with a whole range of pregnancy and parenting issues including miscarriage, still birth, traumatic birth, relationship breakdown, fatherhood, infertility and parenting a disabled child.

I have extensive experience working with postnatal depression and its impact on both partners, and can offer one to one and couples therapy for any pregnancy and parenting related issues.

A calm space for you to feel supported:
I offer a calm, confidential space, where you can find warmth, care and support in a well established private practice based in central Bath. I have over 25 years experience as a therapist and have worked in a family focused counselling service for 12 years and a local counselling agency for over 8 years. This has enabled me to develop an understanding of a wide range of therapeutic issues and to become aware of the need we all have to gain a personal understanding of our own life story.
