About me

Hello I'm Jill and a warm welcome to my practice.

I offer a relaxed, safe place for you to be able to explore your challenges. I hope you will find my therapy room comfortable and bright. I place a real importance on offering a delightful room.

I also hope you will enjoy my fresh approach to working alongside you on your journey and  I will work at your pace.

I am an experienced Counsellor in working with young people and teenagers  having worked in a school and in private practice. I Know only too well how difficult the challenges are in relation to school exams and anxiety. I am fully aware too  of situations where one experiences negative thoughts and the impact that may have resulting in a  variety of symptoms  Including eating disorders and self harm.    I also work with many other issues including  body image, self esteem,  the negative impact of social media, anxiety, friendship groups at school, abuse, confidence issues and many more. I am confident in working with these sensitive topics in a caring and empathic way.

I also work as an experienced counsellor both with individuals and couples. I too am a  creative Life Coach, helping my clients with a variety of challenges.

I offer face to face appointments as well as telephone appointments.  I always feel that face to face sessions are much more productive and its a better way for clients to feel safe .However for some clients telephone counselling fits in better in their busy lives.

What happens during the session?

My counselling approach places our therapeutic relationship at the heart our work together.

In the initial appointment I hope to make you feel safe and welcome. I offer a private practice which I hope you will find tranquil and relaxed. I also place emphasis on offering a nice room in my home which offers a peaceful bright space. There is no pressure to commit to any amount of sessions.

I am a friendly person and will go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable if you choose to work with me.  Along your journey I will be alongside you and I aim to match your rhythm at a respectable pace.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

  1. Domestic Abuse

I am an experienced counsellor in dealing with all forms of domestic abuse.

You may feel as though you have no one that can help you or simply understand . It can be a lonely place.  I know only so well how this feels having been in a long term marriage that I eventually managed to escape from. I feel the key to this is to find support from someone that clearly understands what you are going through and of course how frightening this can be.  If you decide you would like support from me, I will treat you with respect and work at your pace.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel...... trust me because I have experienced that hidden hurt  and I have escaped ........

Relationship issues.

I offer couples counselling to help resolve issues within an intimate relationship.

I hope to facilitate change and bring you a positive outcome through clear communication. We can together negotiate  and resolve conflicts where possible.

There are many different concerns you may bring to couples counselling  ranging from a  lack of communication to a betrayal or an affair.  Sometimes  talking to someone objectively, with no connection to yourself or partner, is all it takes for you to gain perspective.

I am totally non judgemental and offer couples a  safe space  in my private practice for you both to off load, Issues can be really varied . Maybe you find your communication is really difficult or you are not good at listening to each other.

Some couples  come to therapy as they may not  want to have so many arguments.  Of course all couples  do argue but too many arguments can be quite destructive to the relationship. Hopefully a couple can look to gain insight into how their partner sees things from a their prospective.

For some couples perhaps intimacy  feels like it has gone out of the window . This is very common especially after having children. Again through therapy one can talk through their feelings about this subject and hopefully be able to regain this very special side of their relationship.

Life coaching.

I am a creative life coach helping clients who want to make change in both their personal and professional lives. I can help you develop a more open creative way of living.

Telephone counselling

Many people have very busy lives and therefore Telephone counselling offers an alternative to a face to face meeting. It means one can set time aside in the privacy of their home or office to concentrate on their booked telephone appointment.

I have offered many counselling telephone appointments to clients throughout the country so it's not restricted to local people. It offers flexibility and can fit around your diary. It's an excellent way for people to have therapy at the times and days suitable for them. I can also offer this therapy over weekends . All my calls are made from my counselling practice meaning it is safe and confidential. I can also offer Skype appointments.
