Jill Marshall Dip Couns, Registered MBACP
My counselling service operates from a small community centre in South Lincolnshire. I offer compassionate, affordable, long term and short term counselling to adults and young people. Only 20 minutes from Stamford, 10 minutes from Bourne, and half an hour from Spalding, my practice offers convenience and ease of access. Peterborough is 20 minutes' drive from the south.
I am professionally qualified and a member of the The British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and I abide by the BACP's ethical guidelines.
Whether you are single or in a relationship, experiencing the challenges of a family or in mid-life crisis, I will offer you the emotional support you need to lift you, empower you and find the path that feels right for you.
Anxiety and depression are prevalent in today's society but experiencing empathy and understanding and being able to explore issues that are overwhelming you and making it difficult for you to function on a daily basis can bring life-changing experiences.
If you are suffering bereavement, counselling can provide a safe space for you to release your grief and find ways to manage your loss.
It may be difficult to talk your problems over with those close to you, either because they are too involved or it hurts too much, or you may feel as though you have no one to talk to or that no one understands. Whether your problems seem insignificant or insurmountable, you can be assured of an accepting environment where you will not be judged but encouraged to value yourself. I will stay with you in your dark places, encourage you when you find inspiration and help you find a way forward.
This might be the first time you have thought about counselling or you might be looking to find a new therapist. Both have their challenges and the prospect may seem daunting. Please be reassured that I will treat you with respect and offer you a genuine and caring perspective.
With a face-to-face approach, you will have my undivided attention for counselling sessions lasting 50 minutes. The sessions will allow you the emotional space and support to explore, come to terms with, or change what is happening in your life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Certificates in Cognitive Therapy, Mental Health Awareness and Drug and Alcohol Awareness. Although I principally use person-centred (humanistic) counselling, I assess the best way of working during sessions and will consult with you as to what you feel comfortable with and what may benefit you the most. I have experience of group therapy, art therapy and the Gestalt and cognitive approaches and also appreciate the benefits of meditation and relaxation.
I have worked with adults within an NHS setting, and also with young people. My practice is borne out of my own life experiences and my passion to help those feeling lost and vulnerable to become stronger and more aware.
The list of areas I deal with is not exhaustive, merely an indication of the types of problem I have had experience of to date. Whatever issues you may need to explore, I will respect you and your expertise on yourself and will use my effectiveness and expertise as a counsellor to work with you to the very best of my ability. If I feel that I am unable to offer you the best support, I will help you decide on the most appropriate way forward.
