I have been working as a therapist since 2008 and thoroughly enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I have worked in various settings - both the statutory and voluntary sector which means I have developed a wide range of tools and approaches to suit your needs and what ever you bring to the counselling room. Seeking counselling can be daunting at first but my interest is you, and I aim to provide you with a safe reassuring environment, a professional non-judgemental ear to talk about what ever you want. I pride myself to be a naturally warm, empathic and friendly counsellor who would like to give you a positive experience of counselling.
I believe that as human beings we all go through times in our lives where the support of family and friends is sometimes not enough and having a counsellor a step removed from the issue can offer a different type of support, prospective and way forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified with a post graduate diploma in Integrative counselling in 2011 from the University of Newport, Wales.I possess 8 years experience working in the field of addictions working with addictive behaviours involving substance misuse, alcohol and smoking cessation. Often people who present with an addictions or multiple addictions experience other issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma and low self esteem, I have experience in working with a range of complex issues. This has shaped my approach to be fairly solution focussed and cognitive. I have adapted a relational approach into my work as the fundamental basis on which I can integrate other counselling approaches to your needs . Recently I have started learning and using a schema based counselling approach to my work and will be embarking on training in this area in the near future. I am a registered member of the BACP which means I work to their Ethical framework.
I encourage any questions or queries should you want to know more about my training, qualifications or experience.
