Hello and welcome to my page, please feel free to get in touch to arrange an appointment or ask me any questions that you may have.
I strongly believe that everybody has the tools and potential to be happy and healthy already within themselves, but sometimes gaining access to our inner potential can be the tricky part, sometimes life and the experiences we go through can throw up barriers and prevent us from getting to where we would like to be, or from being the person we want to be. We might find ourselves getting stuck in life patterns and cycles of behaviour that don’t benefit us, and it can be difficult to see a way forward, you might feel, lost, angry, hopeless and scared. I know from my own personal journey in counselling that it can be incredibly daunting to share your most inner thoughts with somebody else and it can take a lot of courage to even arrange an initial appointment, it can also take time to settle in to a talking environment. I will help you to work through whatever is troubling you, at your own pace, without pressure and in a positive, safe, caring and trusting space, where you will be free of any judgement and prejudice, and where you can be yourself entirely.
If you struggle to talk about your feelings or would like to explore different ways of expressing yourself we can use a wide range of creative interventions.
It is important to know that you are not alone in your struggles, every human being on this planet needs help and support at certain times in their lives.
We tune our cars, renovate our houses, repair our clothes and shoes, and take our bodies to the gym so why shouldn’t we take the time to tune up our emotional health and well-being.
I trained with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) at the accredited Iron Mill Institute on the Level 5 Integrative Diploma in Counselling and am a registered member of BACP, this mean that I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. The BACP as a professional body ensures a strict code of ethics and the highest standards of practice and confidentiality.
I chose to train and work integratively because everybody is so unique and different and I believe that no single approach can work for all people in all situations, I consider my client as a whole person first and then tailor my counselling techniques to your individual needs and circumstances.
I am committed to being the best counsellor I can be for my clients so I actively engage in CPD training and I know that my learning is always on going.
For the past three years I have worked on a voluntary basis at a large scale children’s charity, counselling parents with children under five. As well as this I have been honoured to have worked voluntarily as part of the Supportive Care Team at North Devon Hospice: where I was supporting the children of the Hospice’s terminally ill service users both in pre and post bereavement work, and also supporting the Childs’ family in difficult times.
Alongside my counselling I work in a Primary School in North Devon and have an up to date DBS enhanced disclosure certificate.
I am happy to work with adults, teenagers and children, and am currently undergoing the post qualifying Diploma in counselling children and adolescents.
