About me

Are you finding it hard to understand and manage your tween or teenage child's behaviour? Do you feel like your home is constantly filled with arguments and conflicts because of this? Are you walking on eggshells, as small things can turn into big battles? Is this leaving you feeling tired, anxious, and overwhelmed as you try to balance work, home and family life?

You might feel like you're letting people down, and life feels complicated and busy, leaving you with little time for yourself. You may even find yourself saying yes when you really want to say no.

You don't have to feel like this anymore! As a counsellor with over 12 years of experience, I specialise in neurodivergence in families, including formal and self-diagnosed autism or ADHD, as well as LGBTQ+ identities. I can help you regain a sense of calm in your life and create positive relationships with the people around you.

In addition to this, I also offer single-session therapy, which is a shorter, more solution-focused form of therapy.

There's so much information and support available when our children are small. However, when they enter adolescence, it can feel like we're entering uncharted territory, and we still worry about their well-being even as they become young adults.

To help you navigate this new phase in your life, we can work together to make your life calmer, and your relationships feel stronger by:

  • Understanding other people's (and your own) emotions
  • Communicating honestly and openly
  • Establishing clear boundaries
  • Being able to address conflict in a constructive manner
  • Letting go of the need for perfectionism
  • Being compassionate and kind to yourself
  • We will work together to make your relationships with the people who matter most to you happy, positive and healthy.

The next step

I know how important finding the right counsellor is, so if you're considering working with me, don't hesitate to contact me.

You can access therapy with me within a few days of getting in touch.

I respond to new client enquiries as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours or by the next working day. Please check your junk folder, too.

We'll then agree on a mutually convenient time for a brief "getting to know you" chat over the phone. During this chat, we'll discuss what you hope to achieve with counselling and determine if you feel comfortable working with me.

The Empower Hour

I also offer solution-focused single sessions, a one-off session to empower you to tackle a particular issue you may be experiencing. This one-off session is designed to help you quickly untangle a knotty aspect of your life.

The 'Empower Hour' session lasts 60 minutes and includes a brief follow-up call 3-4 weeks later to check on your progress.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

  • Coping with your child as they head into their teenage years and puberty - Being a parent or carer when your child hits their teen years can be challenging, and it may feel like there is a lack of information and support. I help parents maintain healthy relationships and boundaries with their adolescent children.
  • Perimenopause and menopause and the 'Perfect Storm' - Often, when someone in your home goes through puberty and adolescence, someone else goes through hormone shifts as they head towards menopause. I work with you to restore the balance and calm in you and your family.
  • Relationship and Family Issues - We'll work together to address any issues you may be facing in your relationship or family, whether you are together or thinking about separation or divorce. We'll find ways together to help you manage stresses and conflict that may be affecting your relationship and family. Additionally, we can explore how behaviour patterns, attachment styles and parenting and family issues can influence your relationships.
  • Single-Session, brief, solution-focused therapy - Are you stuck on a particular issue? Get unstuck with the 'Empower Hour' - a single-session solution-focused therapy to tackle your knotty life issues.
