About me

Hello and Welcome to my webpage.

I am a Registered Accredited Psychotherapist and Counsellor with BACP and NCIP. I have over 25 years experience working with and supporting adults, and young people in a variety of professional settings. My psychotherapy and counselling practice is based in Purley, Croydon and Caterham, Coulsdon and South East London.

How I Work Therapeutically

As a therapist, I typically work therapeutically by building rapport, conducting a initial assessment, developing treatment plan, providing emotional support and empathy, active listening and reflection - applying evidence-based interventions, challenging negative beliefs and behaviours, promotion self reflection and insight, monitoring your progress and offering recommendations for on-going selfcare and support. The therapeutic process can vary depending on the approach employed, your specific needs, and the nature of the concerns being addressed. The relationship between myself and you is a collaborative one, focusing on your well-being and growth.

Our First Session

This is an opportunity for us to meet one another and assess whether we feel comfortable working together. This will be an assessment session in which I will collect some personal information, explain hoe counselling or therapy work and discuss what you want to achieve from the sessions. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

Clients I Work with

Adults, children, couples, older adults.

How I Delivery Therapy

Long and short-term psychotherapy and counselling sessions. Online, telephone, face-to-face, and time-limited.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

In addition to my private practice, I also work for various charities offering short and long term stress, anger, anxiety and depression support to a wide variety of clients across a range of cultural backgrounds and social groups.

Along with my practice I also train people to become counsellors and psychotherapists. This involves not only imparting knowledge and skills but also serving as a role model for ethical practice and professional conduct. I hope my own expertise, experience and passion greatly influence and inspire the next generation of counsellors and psychotherapists.
