Jennifer Pomfret - Postgraduate Diploma Integrative Counselling
Lytham St. Annes
01253465440 / 07932943164
I work with individuals and couples and offer face to face, telephone and email counselling. As an Integrative counsellor we can incorporate a number of different approaches into our sessions together in order for you to gain a better understanding of issues which may be troubling you. This I offer in a safe, comfortable and confidential space.
I retrained as a therapist after many years employed as a Ward Sister in the NHS. I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor currently working with a wide range of client groups. I attend monthly supervision with a qualified supervisor to support my practice and have an enhanced DBS certificate. In addition, I am a member of BACP and adhere to its ethical framework to support my therapy practice and I am covered by professional indemnity insurance.
My training and experience
I worked as a counsellor for several years within the Primary Mental Health Team, a part of NHS Counselling Services, where I had a caseload of clients with a range of presenting issues including low confidence and self esteem, anxiety, grief and loss and low mood. As part of my role I received extensive training and guidance working within Data protection legislation,Clinical Governance and Confidentiality policies.
I hold a First class Health Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
The type of therapy I offer
My initial therapeutic training was Integrative with a humanistic theoretical base. This means that I work in a Person-centered way offering the core conditions of Empathy, Genuineness and Unconditional Positive Regard to build a trusting relationship and promote client autonomy. As an Integrative therapist, I incorporate a number of different approaches within our sessions including: Solution Focused Brief Techniques, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive interventions, Problem solving, Goal setting and Anxiety management. All are evidence based techniques and support current best practice within NICE guidelines
I work with you in a way that offers you a safe, comfortable and confidential space. I don't judge you but listen to what you have to say, supporting you to explore your experiences, thoughts and feelings at a deeper level, encouraging self reflection, in order for you to gain a better understanding of yourself and so enabling you to make your own decisions with regard to issues you find troubling. In my work I endeavour to help my clients to gain a better understanding of their difficulties, and this in turn can help a person to consider different ways of dealing with issues both in the past, present and future. This often allows that sense of 'stuckness', which often accompanies emotional discomfort to shift, and thus enables and empowers an individual to move forward in their life.
I understand this is a difficult time for you and looking for a counsellor can be confusing and overwhelming. Please do feel free to contact me if you have any questions or you would like to have an informal chat on the phone. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation should you feel you need to discuss my services with you and to see if I am the right person to work with you.
