About me

A gift of reverence is something I offer you and for the following reason.  Perhaps it has taken a period of time and taking those initial steps to accept that something’s effecting how you live your life, is no easy feat.  It takes a lot of courage and honesty.  Recognising that there is a cycle which has basically been maintained and wanting that to stop is a sign of inner awakening.  Understanding that the cycle can be broken and effected instead of it effecting you, can point to accepting responsibility for your life.

Finding the right counsellor, someone you feel you connect with, is essential to being able to work on the issue so please take your time. I am available and more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding how I work.

As a registered and accredited MBACP  psychotherapist,  I feel that I offer an equitable service which is confidential and  professional, where I am invested and dedicated to the work involved. This ethos applies to whether I am at my Godmanchester practice or at Therapy Harley Street in London.  Adhering to the ethical standard set by the BACP ensures I consistently provide a safe and confidential service with boundaries to maintain a secure working environment.  In addition to these requirements for the profession, I aim to offer acceptance, affirmation and warmth.

I have been described as someone who can bring calm to a situation and as being grounded which I have found to be extremely helpful in my work as a counsellor.  I can honestly state that within the many years as a psychotherapist, I endeavour to work to form an effective and honest dynamic with a client.  The benefits from this alliance can be that whatever lies beneath can surface due to the trust which has been established.

Being a psychotherapist, I can offer you the support and understanding you may require through being fully present in a space which is calm.  This leads to focus which enables us to work effectively on the issues which you may present.  It takes time to establish a working relationship and to fully understand how an issue has effected a client and therefore the work is paced.  It means that I check in with you to ensure that you are not overwhelmed or confused and to ensure that I have correctly understood you and we have clarity in the work.

How we work, whether that means weekly or bi weekly session, face to face, online or over the phone, is your choice but whatever arrangement you decide upon, the aim remains the same.  For the both of us to have insight and comprehension of  your issue, then for you to  eventually gain a sense of direction and autonomy in your life.

Should you have any questions regarding counselling please feel free to contact me using the contact details available.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Huntingdon Regional College and obtained the qualifications as shown below.

  • Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist
  • Certificate in Couples Counselling Cambridgeshire
  • BACP Certificate of Proficiency
  • Working with Couples - Theory and Practice
  • Motivational Therapeutic Interventions Level 4
  • City and Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma  in Counselling
  • Level 3 Skills and Theory for Counselling Young People PTUK.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills NFCE

I was a volunteer counsellor for three organisations whilst training.

At Hinchingbrooke Hospital I counselled clients who had suffered miscarriages and the difficulties faced in the relationship after.

The second voluntary role in Nacro involved seeing clients who were aged from sixteen to adult who presented various issues.

The involvement with Mind enabled me to really build my experience in long term work with clients which enabled me to fully appreciate the client / counsellor relationship.

All three organisations helped me not only further my skills as a counsellor but to comprehend people and life.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
