Hello and welcome, my name is Jenna and I am a fully qualified and experienced family counsellor working in the Halton area. I have been working with children, adolescents and their families within various settings for the last eleven years, supporting them in achieving what is right for them. I offer individual sessions for adults and young people, couples counselling and full family sessions.
I have a specialist interest is supporting bereaved children & young people and have worked with this particular issue in various formats over the past few years, offering bereavement support and counselling to individuals & families as well as facilitating training and support groups in this area.
Counselling can be an opportunity for personal space away from the stress and demands of daily life. By exploring any difficulties which you may be struggling with in a safe and private setting you can begin to find your own way again.
There are many issues which lead couples, parents or full families to seek counselling together rather than individually. These include:
- Relationship issues and family conflict
- Behavoural difficulties
- Bereavement, loss or separation
- Emotional problems
Some people also choose to attend sessions alone and simply hold their loved ones in mind whilst working through issues and some choose to invite family members to join them in some sessions but not others. Every individuals way of working is as unique as the issues that they bring and there is no right or wrong way of doing things.
My approach as a counsellor is to work intergratively from a person centered base. This means that I use a variety of techniques to help people to tell their stories. This might include drawing, writing or other creative activities and for young people, play is their most natural form of self expression. I am also systemically trained which means that I can work with the difficulties which arise between family members and families or groups as a whole.

Prior to my counselling training I worked within residential support settings, caring for young people with severely challenging and complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. This, teamed with additional training and experience in facilitating parenting skills and positive relationship groups has provided me with a rich resource bank which I have often found helps within certain aspects of my work with families. Being a working Mother of two myself also helps, as I often find myself being fully able to relate to the struggle of family life.
All families have ways of being with one another that can ease or create conflict within them. My role is to help to bring these ways of being in to each persons awareness and then to facilitate you to each understand your own needs and wants, as well as each others. The final step then, of course, is for us to discover together a way of these individual needs and wants existing alongside each other in harmony.
