Jeannine Townsley MBACP Registered Member
I am an experienced and qualified integrative counsellor. I offer professional counselling to adults, young people and children. I am specially trained and qualified to work with children and young people in accordance to the SPICC (Sequentially Planned Integrative Counselling for Children) model.
I am committed to provide you a safe and comfortable environment, where you can feel accepted and valued. Together we can explore and work through any issues you feel are impacting on your wellbeing. I have experience dealing with a range of issues including:
* Generalised Anxiety Disorder
* Depression including postnatal depression
* Anger management
* Relationship issues
* Family issues
* Self harm
* Low self esteem
I offer a confidential, trusting, therapeutic relationship where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly without judgement. Together we can work toward your own goals and utilise change by developing positive coping strategies, which you can continue to use beyond our counselling sessions.
I understand young people face many pressures. I provide a calm, confidential space to explore these issues, which often feel overwhelming and can create anxiety. Together we can develop and build your self confidence and self esteem. I use a mixture of media and talking therapies to explore different solutions and effective coping strategies which can have a positive impact on your self.
To engage children in therapy I introduce play with different toys, activities, story telling and art. This allows the child to feel safe and secure and build up trust in myself. Using play alongside my counselling skills I support the child to talk about sensitive issues and tell me their story.
I have many years experience supporting families, counselling adults, young people and children within the public sector, domestic abuse charities and GP referrals. I hold a fully enhanced DBS (CRB)
I am a registered member and adhere to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) ethical framework for good practice.
I am happy to chat through any questions you may have, before you decide if you would like to make an appointment.
