If you are overwhelmed by anger, stress or depression or challenged by difficult life changing events and/or experiencing relationship difficulties with a partner, family, friend or at work then feel free to contact me to see if I'm the right therapist for you.
I am a Psychotherapist and a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) and have many other additional trainings under my belt. The name I am most known by is Jay. Please see my web site www.jayfarquhar.co.uk to gain a broader picture of how I work. I work with individuals, couples and groups.
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom” ~ Aristotle
I believe all clients to be individual with their own unique blueprint (physical, mental, emotional, biological, historical, phenomenological and psychological). I consider that each and every individual client requires from their therapist a spaciousness supporting them in their work and in addition a variety of skills and approaches to underpin their therapeutic journey. My own individual style of working supports me to provide an individually integrative therapy for each client that works with me.
I am an ethical and skilled practitioner and I provide a space for clients that is safe, supportive, confidential and non-judgemental. I work collaboratively with my clients supporting them to resolve their issues and reach their desired life goals.
My Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy training and other additional trainings that I have undertaken over the years including my own vast life experiences supports the many issues that clients bring to me in their therapy. I have the capacity to provide a range of therapeutic styles from a more short term therapy using counselling and behavioural approaches to a more in-depth long term psychotherapy approach.

A little more about me....To share a little back ground with you, in my early working life I worked in commerce and industry within high stress environments before entering into the nursing profession where I qualified as a Registered General Nurse working with adults, initially specializing in critical care. All of this has given me valuable experience, understanding and insights that have supported me in developing and maintaining my interest and curiosity of working with the complexities of our individual humanness. I have worked with a diverse range of people of differing ages from all walks of life.
In summary....Transactional Analysis provides the foundation and structure of my psychotherapeutic working practice with my clients. It was developed by Eric Berne in the 1950′s and is a widely recognized form of modern humanistic psychology. From my own individual journey and experiences as well as many years of working with clients I have found Transactional Analysis to be incredibly effective supporting clients understanding the complexities of themselves and human relationships. This then supports them through their therapeutic journey to make different life choices and move towards the life they want rather than a life that on some level may have been preordained due to their unconscious and conscious issues.
