Profile
Clients describe me as warm and empathic and able to create a safe environment where they can talk about very difficult areas of their lives. I am very solution and future-orientated and clients describe my methods as very ‘hands on’.
I am qualified Danish Psychologist and also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Family Psychotherapy from Tavistock Clinic in London. I am currently in my fourth and final year of my training as a Systemic Family Therapist.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with children and young people and offer evidence-based CBT for the age group 5-19. I have specialised in CBT in relation to especially Anxiety and Phobias and have made a 6 session programme for young people who experience 'Stress & Anxiety in relation to tests or exams'.
I offer support/therapy to family members during the CBT treatment of the child or young person.
I have worked with children, young people and families for more than 20 years. I started out in nursing and became interested in psychology and counselling through my nursing work.
The last 7 years I have worked within Child & Adolescent’s Mental Health Services in both Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. The work consisted of offering support, coaching and therapy to children and young people and their families. I have also delivered supervision, training and consultation to staff working within schools, nurseries, health visiting, Drug misuse worker etc.
I am one part of developing and delivering, a two day training course in Solution Focused Brief Interventions, together with MO Training and Consultancy, (please visit trainwithmo.co.uk).
