Profile

Attachment based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, with a mindfulness approach.

I trained at the Bowlby Centre which covers the lifecycle from infants until old age and am experienced in working with a broad range of trauma and difficulties arising from attachment relationships.

I specialise in helping people who have been fostered or adopted, or are thinking of fostering or adopting. This includes family life and difficulties that families experience.  I work with people suffering cancer, in particular those coming to terms with the emotional and physical aftermath of the treatment, such as lymphoedema. I also work closely with relatives of sufferers.  I have a specialist interest in working with adults and adolescents who have experienced difficulties and trauma as a result of dyslexia, particularly from within the education system.

John Bowlby wrote that mourning is vital to the acknowledgement and understanding of the effects of abandonment, loss and abuse, whether emotional, sexual or physical. The support of an authentic process of mourning forms a central to the development of a sense of self and the capacity to from and sustain intimate relationships. Both a strong sense of self and good attachment throughout life.
