About me

Sometimes life can become overwhelming and we just need some space to make sense of it. In situations of overwhelming emotions it is easy to minimise or to ignore what may be causing this pain. If we can allow ourselves to give some time to explore these emotions, in a safe and non judgemental space then they may be more manageable. I work in the here and now, using mindfulness in my work, along side how our first-attachments may shape how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I believe  through self reflection and acceptance we can begin to value ourselves and begin to feel valued too.

My life, training, personal and cultural experience lends me to be open and accepting of differences and respectful of choices we all make.

Trained and qualified to a Masters level, and BACP registered counsellor, I aim to offer support, clam space and a listening ear to enable you to explore your emotions. We can work together to build an honest and trusting relationship, in which you can begin to find your way through your life path. I offer long and short term counselling covering range of distressing situations and events.

Training, qualifications & experience

Having originally gained a BSc degree in psychology, I have further trained in psychodynamic and person centered counselling gaining an MA with University of Hertfordshire. I have  acquired training and knowledge in the field of mindfulness and its place in the therapeutic relationship. I utilise different models of training to enable the client to engage in the process of healing, acceptance and moving forward in their journey of life.

I have worked for a number of years in different organisations and  with diverse groups of people presenting issues of alcohol and drug abuse, as well as witj young and old carers, and many forms of distresses that connect to this.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
