As an experienced therapist, I offer you choices for change with a wide range of issues to support you through personal growth, challenge or crisis in your work, home, social or family life.
Choices for change from counselling to life skills coaching:
Counselling - offers you impartial support through challenging times and problems you may find hard to resolve alone, or with family and friends
Psychotherapy - to help you make sense of repetitive negative experiences and develop a more positive relationship with yourself and others to achieve the life you want
Life Skills - self development training for stress management, relaxation, assertiveness, goal identification and positive action planning
I've had many years experience of providing effective therapy both in NHS Primary Care and in private practice. Short-term work (up to 12 sessions), is a particular area of expertise. This offers a balance of identifying and resolving past & present issues, with learning a range of personalised tools & techniques to support and maintain your long-term change.
I'm also happy to work longer term, at whatever pace and style suits your individual needs. The 'Lifechoices' practice can also offer hypnotherapy www.lifechoices-hypnotherapy.com
Training, qualifications & experience
Through a broad range of personal experiences, I can relate to the multiple stresses that life presents. From my past career, I understand what its like to work in the private, public and charity sectors. Following personal reflection on my direction in life, I made a 'life choice' in my early 40's - realising a long held fascination with what makes me and other people people' tick', I re-trained in psychotherapy. Now in my mid 50's, I'm enjoying being self employed as a therapist in my own private practice, alongside working in NHS primary care.
I'm a BACP accredited member, with a Diploma from 5 year training in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy at The Berne Institute near Nottingham.
Transactional Analysis (TA) is a humanistic therapy, which values the intrinsic worth of human beings and holistically considers the whole person, emotionally and physically. TA uses clear, everyday language and diagrams that can be shared with clients offering personal insights and tools. I've also trained in a wide range of additional techniques including NLP, EFT, CBT, as well as Mindfulness & Compassion focussed approaches now used by the NHS as an evidence-based treatment for anxiety and depression.
Whatever type of support you choose, its most important to feel comfortable with your therapist, so I offer a no obligation assessment as an opportunity to get to know one another and decide if wed like to work together. I offer a confidential, safe place to resolve your issues. Through an equal and open working relationship, I'll invite you to express yourself freely, at your own pace and to raise any questions or concerns at any time.
