About me

I am a fully qualified and experienced practitioner. In addition to my private practice I have worked in a variety of settings. Having worked as Clinical Lead for a number of years for a psychological service, my experience is vast. I work with individuals, couples and families who are dealing with a range of issues and difficulties. I am an integrative therapist which means I can use a variety of techniques to address issues that you may be experiencing.
My expertise has developed from working within various settings including private practice, the NHS and extensive work with Children Services.

I offer a supportive and solution focused approach based upon an attachment, systemic and cognitive behavioural approach. These approaches can be used individually or can be combined in order to tailor make the most effective therapy approach.

I have worked extensively with both perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse and can offer Domestic Abuse Risk Assessments, Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programmes and therapeutic support for victims and children who have been affected by domestic abuse.

I work extensively with foster parents and adopters by therapeutically supporting their understanding and parenting of developmentally traumatised children and young people. The focus of this work includes Attachment, PACE and DPP.

I undertake long term Schema Therapy work for the Personality Disordered spectrum.

I am also a Clinical Supervisor to both students and qualified therapists and counsellors.

I also offer consultancy for organisations who are initiating or developing therapy services.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified to Masters level and achieved a distinction grade in MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP accredited) at the University of Derby. I am also due to commence a doctorate in Psychotherapy.
In addition to this I have undertaken various additional training courses in order to expand and develop my knowledge base.

My experience to date has enabled me to work with a vast range of issues. I also have a particular expertise in domestic abuse, working with both victims (adults and children) and perpetrators, family issues, anxiety and depression and trauma related difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
