About me

Hello again, thanks for clicking on my profile.

I have been in private practice for many years, and have a great deal of experience listening to clients discuss their feelings around depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss. Through talking, this has helped clients understand themselves.

I work with young adults, adults & couples. In addition to working in private practice,  I have worked in substance rehabilitation & hospice settings.

I know entering counselling can be very nerve racking. As part of my training, to become a counsellor, I have had to undergo my own therapy to understand me, and I can honestly say it is one of the best things I've ever done. My own counselling experience will allow me to explore with you and help you come to a better understanding about yourself.

Some clients think I have the ability to read their minds...... I don't. Some think I have all the answers........I don't, but together we can explore what is going on for you, which will hopefully lead you to finding your own answers. Others
think I will give them advice........another thing I will not do as your experience is completely unique to you and any advice given could lead to a negative outcome for you.
What I will offer to you though, is a safe space, which is non judgmental and in full confidentiality. I will always be there for you and walk next to on your journey of discovery and change for as long as you require the space to talk.

Please contact me if you have any further questions. I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards

Jason

Experience

I have been in private practice for many years and work from my family home in Selsdon, South Croydon, CR2 8SR where I offer a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment. This allows my clients the ability to explore their feelings.

I have worked as a counsellor at Evolve Housing + Support (formerly South London YMCA) where I had a weekly practice. I worked with adult clients with many complex issues.

I have also worked as a counsellor at Turning Point (Croydon Recovery Network). Here I work with adults with addictions contemplating the first steps of recovery to change in their lives. I also assist clients who have a unhealthy relationship with gambling.

In addition to my private practice, I also work as a grief & bereavement counsellor at a hospice in West Sussex.

I have and continue to work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I have experience of working with many complex presenting issues.

I also work in association with many EAP (Employee Assist Programmes), which helps clients in the workplace deal life experiences and clients returning to work after being away on long term illness.

I hold professional indemnity insurance and have a current DBS (Disclosure & Baring Service formerly CRB) check.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
