About me

I am an experienced Integrative & Transpersonal Psychotherapist and Relate trained Relationship & Psychosexual therapist, Supervisor, Trainer, and Transformational Life Coach.

·      I have worked since 2005 with a wide range of clients in a variety of organisations, including charities, the NHS, and my own private practice.

·      I work with individuals and couples; my approach is somewhat eclectic as I draw on several theoretical approaches to find the best way of working with you.

·      I offer both short term and/or long-term work.

Individual Psychotherapy

I help clients explore a wide range of issues and life circumstances, including relationship issues, anxiety, panic attacks, addiction, stress, sexual problems, verbal/domestic abuse, loss, eating disorders, career/business stresses and self-esteem issues. However, some clients choose to come to therapy to expand their personal/career development and/or may wish to explore certain aspects of their lives, find direction or purpose, develop their personal identity, or deepen their spiritual understanding.

Most of our work together would involve talking therapy, although many of my individual clients have found it helpful to work creatively with drawings, imagery, dreams, bodywork, sand trays or visualisation. Our work will help you to understand who you are, what is preventing you from living a vibrant and resilient life and how to implement these changes.

Relationship and Sex Therapy

On average, most couples seek help with relationship difficulties after at least 7 years of struggling. Some of these problems could be poor communication, infidelity, managing stress, different parenting styles, financial pressures, violations of boundaries, managing individual and couple expectations, divorce, separation and breaking up. My role would involve helping a couple to improve their communication and express their needs more effectively, see their partner more positively and a create a healthier and more enjoyable relationship.

Some couples, however, may be struggling with a sexual dysfunction; this could be something such as a disorder of sexual desire/interest, arousal, orgasm, and sexual pain.  Sexual difficulties can be a sensitive subject that couples can find challenging to discuss and navigate. My role would involve creating a safe space to discuss intimate material, gathering information, evaluating the situation, and if suitable for this type of therapy, creating a bespoke treatment plan to work on.

Testimonials.

"Thank you for your help over the past few years with difficulties experienced in my childhood. These session have been invaluable and given me the chance to confront the past and ultimately move on to lead a happier and less fearful life from a different perspective".
Female, aged 57.

"Janine was able to connect many dots in my life and allow me to overcome my issues with anxiety in a positive way. I would recommend Janine for CBT as her ability to understand the issues I was having and potential solutions was fantastic".

Male, aged 28.

"Thank you so much for your commitment over the last two years. My sessions have been very important to me and you have guided me through difficult issues and helped me overcome my fears. I will never forget you and the work we faced; there have been many powerful moments."
Female, aged 27.

"The individual counselling sessions I have had with Janine have been the most worthwhile help I Have had in years. She is so easy to talk to, but doesn't let you 'get away' with anything. Having someone that can halt you and make you dig into something with the gentleness that Janine does, is a rare skill. It hasn't been an easy journey, but it has been helpful on so many levels and I am incredibly grateful that Janine turned up as my counsellor. I have seen others over the years with nowhere near the insight that she has helped me find.
