About me

Are you overwhelmed, with thoughts that you will always feel the same, that life will never change, wondering which way to turn. Or perhaps you might feel unable to access your feelings - cut off from them as if they hold little meaning of importance at all. I am a Jungian analyst, psychotherapist and counsellor based in South West London based in Southfields SW18. I have extensive experience in many area’s of psychological distress that are likely to underlie these thoughts and feelings such as:

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Panic disorder and phobias
  • Bereavements and loss
  • Divorce and redundancy
  • Lacking confidence, self-esteem or having feelings of underachievement
  • Finding it difficult sustain good relationships or repeatedly becoming involved in unsatisfactory or destructive relationships
  • Affairs and betrayals
  • Experiencing depression, sadness or emptiness
  • Unresolved difficulties from childhood or your more recent past
  • Difficulties relating to sexuality
  • Family and work related difficulties

Why therapy?

It is not uncommon for us to experience emotional difficulties in our lives, and for the most part it is in our nature to manage them without outside help. However, there are times when these experiences become too overwhelming, leaving us anguished, stuck and unable to move on.

We might feel ashamed, embarrassed and think that we should cope alone. But to seek out the self care needed to look after our psychological wellbeing is not only a brave step; it is also a very healthy one.

As your therapist my aim is to offer you a confidential, non-judgmental, creative space. I will listen to you carefully, encourage you to talk about whatever might be troubling you, and help you to find your own solutions.

My Approach:

I am a trained Jungian analyst, psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist.

This means that I work by linking past and present, conscious and unconscious thoughts, and repeated patterns, and behaviours that might lead to unhappiness and distress.

I also work with your dreams and fantasies, which can act as a key to unlock your creative and imaginative ways of thinking.

Working with these concepts, can lead you a deeper understanding of who you are, and of how you relate to others and to yourself; thus leading you towards to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • AJA (Association of Jungian Analysts) Jungian analyst and member of AJA.
  • WPF (Westminster Pastoral Foundation) Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. The Diploma is also endorsed by the University of Roehampton.
  • Former Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMHN) with specialist experience in addictions.

As well as my private practice, I have worked as a therapist at WPF Therapy, in various mental health settings in the NHS and in GP surgeries. In addition, I have training and considerable experience working in Groups, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.

I have considerable experience in short term focused counselling and long term analysis and psychotherapy.

I am a member of AJA ( Association of Jungian Analysts)  IAAP International Association of Analytical Psychologists, BPC ( British Psychoanalytic Council) and  FPC (The Foundation of Psychotherapy and Counselling).

As a member, of these highly acclaimed organisations I am committed to continual professional development,  regular supervision. I am also a member of the BPC  and I adhere to their code of ethics.

I have specialised experience with individuals in the following.

Relationship difficulties, which amongst others, can range from:

  • Relationships between parents, siblings, partners, children, family members and in-laws, and friends who can feel as though they are relatives.
  • Parenting, or making the choice not to be a parent, postnatal depression, unplanned pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth and infertility.

It might seem on the surface that these are areas in which we feel we should instinctively manage and know how to cope with. However, I believe, this is when we can unnecessarily criticize ourselves, see ourselves as unnatural, not good enough or experience feelings of anger. As a result, we can often feel locked in emotions such as guilt, shame, bewilderment and, as mentioned before, anger. Together we can begin to explore and unpack these states of mind, with a view to finding an understanding of these difficult, delicate and sensitive issues.

Addiction:

You might find yourself beginning to seek comfort in:

  • Alcohol.
  • Drug misuse,
  • gambling
  • Overeating
  • Shopping
  • The use of the Internet.

On the other hand, you might be in recovery from addiction. Wherever you might be in this cycle of behaviour, together we can begin or continue to untangle these unhelpful, some times destructive impulses and explore their origins.
