Profile
Listening to you and understanding you are very important aspects in the work I do as an Eclectic Therapist. I will carefully select and use different aproaches and theoretical models to create an individual and effective service, that aims to meet your therapeutic needs at all times. Life can be challenging for many reasons, for example, if a loved one dies and we struggle with our grief, or we become depressed, feel anxious, sad, angry or alone, or our personal circumstances change and our sense of security feels threatened. Facing such personal dilemas can seem daunting and we may instinctively know we need help, but sometimes friends and family are just not able to give us the support we need. As a professional counsellor I can offer you a non-judgemental and safe place where you can explore your problems and learn how to make the decisions and changes that you need to, in order to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.
Other areas of concern that I am able to help you with can be found in the list, further down this page.
Hypnotherapy is another technique that I use either as a stand alone treatment or in combination with counselling. It is a very helpful way in which to find the root cause of a problem that may be buried deep within your subconscious mind. The 'hypnotic trance' is a totally natural process for the body to enter into and although you will be be deeply relaxed, your 'moral compass' will remain in tact ensuring personal control at all times.
My Aim as a counsellor is to help you acknowledge and understand your perceptions and beliefs about your world, and how they have created who you are and even some of the problems you are presently experiencing. This may challenge you on many levels but through our therapeutic alliance of talking together and exploring your experiences in a safe environment, you can start the process of changing some of the ways you think and therefore feel about your situation. As your confidence increases your emotional and psychological health will also strengthen. Achieving this will enable you to rely on your self and your own abilities more effectively and therefore to deal more successfully with whatever life puts your way. I believe there need to be some crucial components within the counsellor/client relationship to allow this to happen and these are trust, respect, empathy and the reassurance of confidentiality. All of these are a priority in my practice and support my philosophy and beliefs regarding the work I have chosen to do.
Personal Website (please see the above link) - this will give you other character information that will help you to make a more informed choice about the therapist you choose to work with, in what is possibly one of the most personally challenging and yet most rewarding things you will ever do.
Important information about costs, duration and cancellation of sessions can be found in the 'Fees' section.
