About me

My name is Jane Hampson and I have over 25 years of experience as a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist of adults, couples and young people. I live and work in Hampton, TW12, and I can offer you a safe, confidential space in which to explore your thoughts and feelings, without judgement. This can be done in several ways, and we will work together to find the most suitable for you. This might be over a short term period, typically 6 – 12 sessions, or on a longer term basis with an open ended time frame, depending on what works best for you.

What might you want to come and talk about ?

It might be anything, from relationship difficulties, couples counselling, separation and divorce, family issues, bereavement, depression, low self esteem, eating disorders, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, issues at work, abuse, addiction or it may be that you are feeling unhappy and are not sure why. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is not part of the difficulties you are experiencing. I work by actively listening and responding to you, and finding out about your past history and how it is affecting your present difficulties. Together, we will examine what changes you would like to make and how they can be achieved.

Taking that first step

It can be difficult, but it may well be worth making contact either by email or phone, and finding out if counselling/psychotherapy is for you. If so, then we will arrange an initial session to assess together your difficulties and allow you space to ask any questions you have about the therapeutic process.

Further Experience

I also have extensive experience in working with young people, having worked in secondary schools as a counsellor. This might take the form of parent consultations, or individual, safe, confidential sessions with a young person.

I also offer Supervision to both trainee and qualified counsellors.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and hold the Diploma in Advanced Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from WPF. I also hold Certificates in counselling skills, CBT, Brief Solution Focussed Therapy and Supervision skills.

I also have 5 years experience working in an Adult Counselling Service, 5 years as a School Counsellor and have also worked for an EAP provider ( Employment Assistance Programme ).
I am an experienced supervisor of trainee counsellors.
I regularly undertake further training, to enhance my practice.

I am UKCP accredited and a member of BACP. I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
