Profile
I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist who has worked for many years with people from diverse backgrounds seeking help with a wide range of issues. Some people come into counselling with a specific issue or life event they wish to address such as a bereavement, relationship breakdown, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating disorder and many others. Other people may not be able to identify an `issue', but have a general sense that something in their life isn't right, perhaps feeling less content or fulfilled that they would like.
Whatever your reason for seeking help, I provide a safe, contained, confidential and non-judgemental space in which your needs are paramount. I will work alongside you to discover what you need in order to gain greater satisfaction in your life, or to move on from a distressing life event, and will work with you to identify what may be blocking you from doing so.
My practice is based in comfortable, professional counselling rooms in Nottingham City Centre and in Carrington/Sherwood. Both are easily accessible by public transport and have car parking space available. I offer counselling and psychotherapy on both a short-term (6 - 12 sessions), medium and long term basis. If you are uncertain about whether counselling is appropriate for you, I offer an initial telephone consultation free of charge, and am also happy to respond to e-mail enquiries. If you choose to proceed, we would meet for an assessment session to discuss in more detail what you need from counselling and to explore the options available to you.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have an MA and Post-Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Humanistic Person-Centered Counselling. I am a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a member of the British Associations for Council and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI), and abide by UKCP, BACP and SPTI Codes of Ethics.
I have considerable experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds including employees of Nottinghamshire Police; staff and students from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, other colleges and universities; counselling and psychotherapy trainees; teachers, employees of Nottingham City and Notts County Council; other public and private sector workers; many others.
