About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my profile which I hope you will find useful.  Firstly I recognise at times it cannot be easy to accept that you may need to seek support.  The hardest step is sometimes making that call but it is also the first step to finding the support you need.  Our greatest strength is knowing and acknowledging that we may not be at our strongest and taking that step of support is already empowering you to make choices. I have provided some information that may help to alleviate your worries and allow you to make an informed choice about the type of confidential support you are seeking.  I provide on line or telephone support across the country, I hold an accredited qualification for providing telephone and on line counselling and I take the stress out of you accessing support by providing all the links you require in remarkably simple way.

ABOUT ME

I have over 20 years experience and would describe myself as an Integrative Counsellor which means that over the years I have trained in a variety of modalities and approaches such as humanistic, cognitive behavioural, solution focused and trauma recovery.   I operate primarily in a Person Centred approach offering you a non-judgemental, empathic listening ear and a safe place to explore whatever it is that is troubling you at a pace that you will always be in control of.   Person centred offers you a way to offload your troubles, untangle the difficulties and to also explore your view of the world to gain a greater understanding of yourself.  I am always drawn to the quote "It is not what is wrong with you but what has happened or is happening that has had an impact on you".  Counselling can help with that and empower and equip you with coping skills and understanding to regain your sense of control and enhance your self-worth and self-esteem.

HOW COUNSELLING CAN HELP

Counselling provides a safe place to explore at a pace to suit your individual needs.  Sometimes you may wish to be doing something practical around developing self-help skills, at other times you may you just want to be with someone that can offer you that non-judgemental warm place.  Counselling can also give you an insight into your view of the world and how that can affect and influence your emotions and behaviours.  Life can be stressful and counselling can also give you an opportunity to explore your triggers and to develop real coping skills around how you manage your emotions the impact on your body and the behaviours that can develop.  Whether this is sleep difficulties, irritation and frustration, relationship challenges or the impact it has on the body.  Counselling can help you to understand. I have experience of working on range of life challenges including anxiety, depression, self-imagine, self-esteem, confidence, early intervention trauma, loss, relationships issues as well as work related issues such as bullying, harassment.  Need to talk then I am hear to listen.

WHAT TO EXPECT IF YOU PROCEED

I offer a free non obligation free consultation meeting of up to 30 minutes. This meeting gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and for me to gather a little information from you and to explain in more depth the counselling process and confidentiality.   It allows us both to explore whether we are a good match to work together.  If we agree that we are it also involves an 'Agreement to Work' that lays out the boundaries of counselling so that everything is clear right from the start. It is an opportunity for you to see if I am the right counsellor for you and if I can offer what you are looking for.  I do not make a charge for first appointments as it is important to find the right person to work with and a pre counselling meeting is a shared opportunity to establish need and formulate working arrangements.

I operate from my therapy room on line and by telephone.  I work with people both on a short and long term basis. Counselling sessions are strictly confidential and professional and when we meet we will discuss and agree the arrangements for the counselling.

Please contact me if you have any questions or wish to make a none committal appointment.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
