About me

Hello, I’m Jan…welcome to my profile page. As an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor, I've helped many people over the years, both individuals and couples, with a wide range of issues. I am pleased to offer face to face sessions or online sessions. Telephone sessions are also an option, where you can be in your own surroundings, wherever you may live.
"I saw Jan for just over 6 months and cannot recommend her enough. She is incredibly supportive, professional, and non-judgmental. Talking to her enabled me to learn about myself and realise and action the changes I needed to make to improve my own mental health.
During the course of the time I was attending weekly sessions with Jan I ended a long term relationship with my partner who I owned a house with, made large decisions about my career and decided to move away, all decisions I am incredibly happy. I was able to make these rationally, with reduced fear and anxiety because of the support I received.
To be clear, Jan doesn't force her own opinions on you, but enables you to realise what you actually want by cutting through emotional baggage. Jan is warm and friendly and very easy to talk to, and her practice space is also very comfortable and welcoming. I am very grateful to have worked with Jan, I felt truly seen, heard and safe with her."

These are just some of the reasons that bring people to consider counselling or psychotherapy..

  • Is uncertainty, causing you to feel anxious and uneasy?
  • Maybe you are feeling low mood, sad, or depressed.
  • Are you are looking for couples counselling to help with issues in your relationship?
  • Or maybe you are experiencing uncertainty around your work or business, or fear redundancy.
  • Are you are at a crossroads in your life, or stuck, and not sure which way to turn?
  • Or do you have problems with relationships or family issues in your life?
  • Perhaps emotional issues are holding you back, if you have low self esteem or fears and anxieties that are bringing obstacles into your daily life.
  • If you have experienced trauma, or abuse in your life that you may need help to resolve.
  • Perhaps you are feeling lonely.

There are times in life when we all need some extra help and support with challenges and difficulties we are facing. There may be concerns you have about the future, or worries in life now.  Perhaps events from the past are affecting your life in a negative way, or causing distress. Or it could be a mixture of all three.

Feeling safe, in a non-judgemental space, enables us to be heard, and make sense of what we need and want, providing support through emotional and life difficulties. With personal change and growth we can feel more empowered, with greater resilience and clarity of what we want from life, and how to get it.

What people are saying..

"I came to Jan on a collegues recommendation. I’d hit rock bottom - I felt worthless and my fears had taken over. Within a few weeks of starting with Jan, the country went into lockdown. I felt like my worst nightmare was coming true. I felt physically and emotionally paralysed with fear.
Fast forward 6 months and my outlook on life has changed. Fear is not dictating my actions anymore. I’m taking the pandemic in my stride. I’m also able to think about my life and what I want out of it with more clarity than ever before. I’m a much happier person and have a healthier relationship with my family, friends and my dog (she’s so responsive to my emotional state).
I don’t know how she did it but I am hugely grateful to Jan for getting me to a place where I am happy and comfortable with who I am and I’m looking to the future with great hope and optimism.
I couldn’t recommend her enough."

I have many years of experience as a Psychotherapist, a Counsellor, Business & Personal Coach and also a Clinical Supervisor of other therapists. I work on an individual basis or with couples on a wide range of personal and work or business issues.

For some people a short period of therapy is sufficient to bring about the changes they need or want, whilst for others a longer period of therapy may be more beneficial. You may have a minor issue, and would like to make some positive changes, or there could be more extensive issues from your past, that will need more time to work through.
