Jan McMillan MBACP Dip Integrative Therapuetic Counselling
Are you finding life difficult to cope with at the moment - you may feel alone, that you don't want to burden people with your problems? I can offer somewhere to turn to where you will be supported whilst you explore the issues that are overwhelming you - you can call for an informal chat to see if counselling is for you with no expectations or commitment required.
I believe that counselling is not about giving advice or direction it is about empowerment – most if not all of my clients tell me of the powerlessness that they feel in times of emotional pain – powerlessness is defeating, depressing; crushing confidence and self esteem – our ability to make simple decisions is reduced leaving us feeling vulnerable and afraid – the minute we reach out for help that feeling of powerlessness starts to lessen – as we come to trust the helper we begin to feel emotionally stronger, our thinking becomes clearer – we feel empowered.
The process is not instant – it takes a while and is unique to everyone – I offer a safe therapeutic environment where this process can gently unfold. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and have experience in supporting clients through many of life’s challenges.
I am a professionally trained qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with several years experience offering counselling support to clients with a broad range of issues.
I currently work as the Lead Therapist on the Mood Disorder Programme at high profile Treatment Centre for Addiction, Eating Disorders, Anxiety and Depression
I spent three years as a counsellor with Age UK working with the elderly and clients with life changing disabilities as well as a part time position at Connect Counselling in Camberley for two years In general counselling and psychotherapy.
If you would like an informal chat to see if counselling is for you please give me a call.
