Profile

I am an experienced and highly qualified BACP accredited psychotherapist having practised for 11 years. I have worked for Relate, the well known national counselling organisation as a couple/ individual therapist and supervisor since 2000. Additionally I work in private practice and work on a short or long term basis, helping couples and individuals explore and understand their current difficulties and assist them in finding a more helpful way forward.

I deal with relationship issues such as communication and conflict, divorce and separation, loss of intimacy, sexual difficulties, life stages and change and the aftermath of an affair. I am also trained to work with couples on how to manage separation in relation to any children involved.   

I also offer individual therapy on a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, family problems, coping with illness, work related stress and bullying in the workplace.

EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
EMDR is a psychotherapy used in the treatment of psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, addictions and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It has been recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence ( NICE) as one of two treatments for PTSD but it's use is more widely used than this. EMDR focuses on any past negative experience which may be hindering the client's current life. By re-processing these it is possible to change them from negative to positive and allow the client to live a more positive and fulfilled life.

I also have additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Working with Children and Young People, Parenting after Parting,Macmillan Cancer Awareness and EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

I am an accredited memeber of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and on the UK Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists ( UKRCP). A member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and a member of the EMDR Association UK & Ireland
