I am a person-centred counsellor, which means I believe you have within you huge potential for growth and change and through the process of counselling we can uncover this together.
So if you feel down and are lacking in direction and need help to find your path, or if you are depressed, anxious, bereaved or have experienced any other kind of loss like the loss of a job, or the loss of a relationship, then counselling may help. This process of sharing can sometimes relieve a huge burden that is felt in times of distress and over a few sessions, or perhaps more, it is possible to gain clarity and see a way forward through your troubling time.
The unique relationship that counselling offers is one that is confidential, non-judgemental, warm and accepting. This creates a safe and supportive space allowing you the freedom to explore and peel back the layers of experiences, beliefs, thoughts and feelings that are causing distress or are stopping you from fulfilling your hopes. Instead finding the light within you to guide you forward in your life and the strength and courage to make the changes you desire.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in person-centred counselling from Moray College, which is validated by COSCA.
I have completed the Cruse Berevement Care Scotland's specialist module on Loss and Bereavement and I have been volunteering with them for over a year now.
I have been a volunteer with Lochaber Hope since 2010 in a helping capacity changing to a counselling role in 2012. This is where I rent a room for my private practice (however, if this is unsuitable for whatever reason, I can access another room elsewhere.)
I am currently working for Scottish Counselling Services seeing clients in Fort William.
I am also committed to continued professional development.
Areas of counselling I deal with
The cost is £30 per 50 minute session.
Some lower priced sessions are available for those on a low income or facing financial hardship.
If you have any questions or queries, or would like some more information, please feel free to contact me on the details provided.
When making contact I aim to get back to voice messages, text messages and emails within 24 hours (this may be longer at weekends). My phone is often on silent when I am with clients, so when leaving a voicemail, please be assured that it is private and no one else will access it.
